6+ Signs Your Body Needs A Cleanse

The world we live in is on toxin overload!
From the air we breathe to the household cleaning products we use, toxins are bombarding our bodies at every turn. While our bodies are made to remove toxins, the current environment and toxic load makes it harder and harder for the body to keep up. The body responds to this build up by showing us signs that something is out of balance. Toxicity, the over abundance of toxins in your system, is one of the root causes of illness & a poorly functioning metabolism.
Here are 6 signs your body needs a cleanse.
1. Low Energy & Fatigue
Our body is working overtime to remove the toxins we are exposed to so it can get back to a normal balance. All of this work leaves us struggling to get through the day without cravings for caffeine or sugar reinforcements. Giving in to these cravings does not support our work on improving the efficiency of our metabolism.
2. Digestive Issues
Digestive issues like gas and bloating can be a sign that our colon is begging for a cleanse. Over time, built up waste in the colon can ferment, which produces the abundance of gas and bloating you may be experiencing. An overburdened colon needs a little extra help to clear it all out.
3. Brain Fog/Difficulty Focusing
When there is an overload of toxins in the body, cognitive ability can be impaired. This causes that feeling of brain fog, and the inability to focus.
4. Mood Swings
Irritability, losing your temper faster than normal and even feelings of depression or anxiety. This is your body telling you that toxin levels are high and normal functioning is not taking place. Mood swings could also be a sign that hormones could be imbalanced, which plays a critical role in the function of the metabolism. Check out my post on What You Probably Don't Know About Metabolism & Hormones.
5. Disrupted Sleep Habits
Sleep is a restorative time where our bodies heal, eliminate toxins and refresh. Trouble sleeping could be a sign that the workload is too much and the body is having to put in overtime to bring it back to balance. The liver especially is known to be active in the early morning hours between 1am and 4pm. Finding yourself awake around this time often could be a sign that the liver is working too hard to remove toxins from the body. Good sleep is one of the most important things when it comes to resetting the metabolism. Read more about the importance of sleep in mastering your metabolism.
6. Skin Problems
The skin is the bodies largest detox organ. Having trouble with frequent breakouts, or skin redness can be a sign that the body is having trouble removing the abundance of toxins, and it needs some help!
Here are some additional signs that the body may needs a cleanse-

Joint pain
Sinus congestion
Postnasal drip
