The ancient spice Turmeric is known for its healing, cleansing and inflammation fighting properties. This healing drink combines the goodness of turmeric with the additional support of honey, black pepper and coconut milk for a luxurious, calming special drink.
The coconut milk provides high quality fat and loads of vitamins. Honey has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and aids in tissue healing and lowering inflammation. Black pepper helps the bioavailability of the active ingredient in turmeric, curcumin. Meaning, black pepper helps your body absorb the curcumin so you can reap all of its amazing benefits!
This recipe is my go to when I am looking for some calm and a nutritious little indulgence.
Turmeric 'Golden Milk' Latte
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1 tablespoon turmeric root powder ( I use this one )
1 tablespoon hot water
1 teaspoon raw honey
a dash of ground black pepper
How to Make:
1. Warm coconut milk in a small saucepan over medium heat. Do not let it boil.
2. In a small bowl combine the turmeric root powder and hot water to make a paste.
3. Add the paste to the coconut milk, whisk until well combined.
4. Mix in remaining ingredients.
5. If you want to make it frothy, pour into a blender and mix!
6. Pour into your favorite mug, and sit back and relax!
