Honey Nutmeg Nighttime Milk (Dairy-Free)

A warm, yummy beverage is a great addition to a night time routine. Warm beverages can help to decompress, slow down, relax and prepare for sleep. The warming sensation of holding and drinking a warm beverage is so soothing and calming to the mind & body. Exactly what you want when getting ready for bed!

This recipes combines ingredients that also support sleep and it is super easy to make!

How To

Makes 1 Cup

  • 1 cup dairy free milk ( I recommend cashew milk or almond milk for their sleep supporting benefits)

  • 1-2 tsp of raw organic honey

  • 1/8 tsp of ground nutmeg

In a small saucepan, heat up the milk, add honey and nutmeg and stir until dissolved and well combined.

Dust with additional nutmeg if desired.

Why It Works

Cashew milk contains the amino acid tryptophan which is known for inducing sleep. If you choose almond milk instead, it contains the mineral magnesium which helps the relaxation response.

Honey not only is soothing to body but since it is a carbohydrate it also helps the amino acid tryptophan get to the brain quicker.

Nutmeg has been shown to have sedative properties and has been used as an all natural sleep aid for centuries.

Give this a recipe a shot during your bedtime routine!

Happy Sleeping!
