Metabolism Balancing Berry Flax Smoothie


Smoothies are one of my favorite ways to start the day! It's an easy on the go meal that can customized and loaded up with nutritious fruits and veggies.


Smoothies are even better when they are loaded with nutrients that help support a healthy metabolism. This Metabolism Balancing Berry Flax Smoothie is my GO TO!


Ingredients:

8 ounces of dairy free milk ( I use almond milk or coconut milk)

1/2 banana

1/2 cup of frozen raspberries

2 Tbsp ground flax seed

1 Tbsp coconut oil (melted) or MCT oil.


1. In a blender combine all ingredients until incorporated and creamy.

2. Add a dash of more dairy free milk to get desired consistency.

3. Pour into a drinking cup and enjoy!


Metabolism Tip: While smoothies are a great quick way to get a lot of nutrients, I highly recommend also grabbing a handful of nuts or some seeds to eat in conjunction to drinking your smoothie.

The process of chewing your food signals the stomach that food is coming so it can prepare the appropriate enzymes to breakdown the food and process it through the body.


If you are just drinking your meal, that signal to the stomach that food is coming is missed, enzymes don't get released and the body is not as efficient at breaking down all of good nutrients in your smoothie and getting those nutrients where they need to go.


Always have a snack to chew on before or after you drink a meal.
